How to read this

Fact: counts are tornadoes in NOAA SPC’s “actual tornadoes” file, each counted once at its start point. Caution: the record is not uniform. Weak tornadoes were far less likely to be recorded before radar and spotter networks grew, and the EF scale replaced the F scale in 2007, so a rising count over time partly reflects better detection. Recent years are preliminary. No MitchellCo forecast or risk score is calculated.
