What is mapped
The overview draws 623,571 bridge records with valid, geographically plausible coordinates from FHWA's 2025 National Bridge Inventory. Condition labels reproduce the source's BRIDGE_CONDITION field.
A weather polygon drawn over a bridge point shows geographic coincidence only—not damage, closure, route clearance, inspection need, structural change, or operating restriction.
Limits
Bridge points are rasterized for national and state-level orientation and cannot be clicked as individual assets. The source is an annual inventory, not a live inspection feed. NWS alerts change, may lack polygons, and load only on request. FHWA says NBI data must not be used for route-clearance decisions. Use transportation agencies, emergency managers, and official notices for decisions.
